Imperium Stellarum

A game of interstellar trade, combat, and exploration. Players begin with a starship and a small amount of money. From this humble start, they may build an empire that spans many star systems.

ABOUT

Imperium Stellarum ("Empire of the Stars") is a passion project of mine.

I've been mulling over the features for a number of years, and implementation has finally culminated in this project.

This is not a commercial endeavor. I don't plan to make any money from this project. I'm building it for myself, and sharing it in case others might also find it interesting or amusing. I don't take feature requests, and I may or may not fix any defects reported to me.

I may pause development at any time for any length of time, but I do intend to finish what I've broadly outlined in the Feature Roadmap.

INSPIRATION

No artificial intelligence has been, or ever will be, used in any part of this project.

FEATURE ROADMAP

  • (DONE) Command your own fleet of up to 10 different starships.

  • (TO DO) Customize your ships for trade, combat, or exploration by mixing and matching components like cargo bays, shields, warp drives, weapons, scanners, and more.

  • (DONE) Make your fortune by buying and selling 25 different goods, from raw minerals to high-tech manufactured products.

  • (DONE) Trade with other merchant vessels as you travel through space.

  • (TO DO) Salvage derelict ships, discovering lost technology, and dangerous alien life.

  • (DONE) Mine raw materials from asteroids and sell them to nearby star systems.

  • (TO DO) Build businesses that produce goods you can sell.

  • (TO DO) Discover and explore new planets, scan them for scientific discoveries, and claim them for colonization.

  • (TO DO) Earn bounties by hunting pirates, or become a pirate yourself; getting rich from the cargo you steal from merchant vessels.

Current Release Status: Very, very pre-alpha.
